A 50 year Legacy!
Our story began in 1976 with the founding of Greenvale Tree by ISA International Climbing Champion, Bo Hunter. From the very start, Bo established a legacy built on high standards and technical excellence in arboriculture. This tradition of quality care found a new steward in 1993.
As Bo prepared to move from San Luis Obispo County, he sought a reliable expert to care for his cherished clientele. He found that trust in Steve Franzmann, owner of Pacific Tree Care, and the two formed a friendship built on a shared passion for arboriculture and commitment to quality service.
Steve’s own journey started with an entrepreneurial spirit and a love for the outdoors, leading him into the arboriculture field in 1989. He began his own business, Pacific Tree Care with a 1979 Ford pickup and a home built chipper box ! He earned his arborist certification in 1992 and officially took the helm of Greenvale just a year later.
As one of the county’s longest-standing Certified Arborists with almost 40 years of experience, Steve has poured his heart into nurturing Greenvale Tree Co. from a two man team- Steve and a groundman – into the thriving business it is today. His decades of expertise have helped maintain a standard of excellence that is now trusted by thousands of loyal clients, neighbors and friends throughout the entire Central Coast region.
Under Steve’s leadership, our family tree has truly grown! Today, we are proud to have five teams of dedicated tree-care experts, an incredible office staff, a knowledgeable sales team and a master mechanic —all working together to uphold the high standards of care and excellence that have defined us for decades.
The family legacy is growing even stronger as Steve’s son, Matt, joins the leadership team after ten years of dedicated work in the family business. Greenvale is not just a tree service, it’s a family legacy and each Franzmann family member has played a role in strengthening the branches of our family tree. These deep roots ensure that Greenvale continues to serve our community with professional tree care for generations to come..
